Congratulations to the student musicians in the Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble for their recent success at the 30th Midwest Music Festival, held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Lemont High School. Bands from 17 area high schools performed and competed in three different grouping classifications, earning a rating, a ranking, and formative feedback from an expert panel of adjudicators.
Both Wind Ensemble (Group 1) and Wind Symphony (Group II) earned a Division I rating, the highest possible rating on the evaluation sheet. Wind Ensemble placed 5th out of 13 ensembles in their group; Wind Symphony placed 1st out of 6 ensembles in their group. Both groups performed challenging repertoire in a musical manner, earning high praise from the panel of judges. Thanks to these students and their directors for expanding the walls of the classroom by participating in this highly competitive regional festival.
