Downers Grove South High School junior trumpet player Brianna Imgruet has
been selected, through competitive audition, to be a part of the 2016 High
School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. Of more than 18,000 high
school students nominated for the 2016 High School Honors Performance
Series, nearly 750 have been selected as Finalists and will gather in New
York in February 2016 to learn from master conductors, interact with other
dedicated student performers, and experience the thrill of performing on-stage
at Carnegie Hall during its 125th anniversary season. Students selected
for the 2016 Honors Performance at Carnegie Hall represent 49
US states, Guam, four provinces of Canada, Armenia, China, Hong Kong, Japan,
Mexico, Oman, the Philippines, Qatar, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.
Since
its debut at Carnegie Hall in 2010, the Honors Performance Series has
sought to feature the most talented student musicians from around the globe.
The Series has received an increasingly competitive pool of
applicants each year, and in 2014 featured its first-ever Middle School
Honors Performance. In 2016, we have reached yet another milestone: For the
first time, the Honors Performance Series will feature five Honors
Ensembles, a collection of the most impressive vocalists and
instrumentalists that has been brought together for this series to date.
