What a homecoming!
Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band both performed elegantly this evening, playing a wide range of music and recapitulating repertoire from the Monday night performance at Carnegie Hall.
Highlights included Vanessa Copeland narrating with Symphonic Band I Have A Dream, a piece which recreated in words and sounds the famous speech of Dr. Martin Luther King. The DGS Wind Ensemble, fresh off a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday night, performed highlights from the NYC tour performance, including Overture to Candide and JoyrIde. During the concert, several students spoke to the audience in attendance about the meaning of the tour to NYC and the experience of performing at Carnegie Hall.
