South High School in Downers Grove is pleased to announce that after competitive adjudication for National Scholastic Awards Emmanuelle Copeland and Stephanie Stewart have earned National Silver Medals in the Scholastic Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Since 1923, the Scholastic Art and Writing Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious award and recognition program for creative teens. This year, more than 330,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Only the top 1% were recognized at the national level.

"Earning a national award from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the pinnacle of success for a high school artist." said Fine Arts department chairman Glenn Williams.  "We are extremely proud of Stephanie and Emmanuelle for earning this recognition at a national level."

Congratulations are also extended to mentor teachers Mrs. Robyn Bican and Ms. Katherine O'Truk.
