DGS Madrigal Singers to appear at State and Regional Convention #99learns #dgspride

Congratulations to the 22 student musicians in the 2015-2016 Madrigal Singers for being selected, through a competitive taped submission process, to participate in the 2016 Illinois Music Educator’s Association All-State Convention (ILMEA) in January in Peoria and the American Choral Directors' Association (ACDA) Regional Convention held in February at the Palmer House Ballroom in Chicago.  Appearing at a State or National convention is widely considered the pinnacle of performance excellence for a high school ensemble.

"This is a tremendous honor for District 99 and for South High School." said Fine Arts Department Chairman Glenn Williams.  "It's a credit to our student musicians that the South High Madrigal Singers have been selected to perform at both the ILMEA All State Convention and the ACDA Regional Convention."

In addition to the current members of the ensemble, student musicians from 2010-2011, 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 contributed to the process by being a part of the submitted audition tape.  Mrs. Coster is currently the director of the Madrigal Singers and both choral directors at DGS, Mrs. Coster and Mrs. Belt-Roselieb have played a role in developing these fine student musicians.

The Madrigal Singers will perform for the ILMEA All State Convention on Thursday, January 28 at 5:00 PM at the Riverside Church in Peoria.

They will perform for the Regional ACDA Convention at the Palmer House Ballroom in Chicago on Thursday, February 25th at 9:45 AM.
