On Friday, April 23rd and Saturday, April 24, 2010, 28 high school bands from Illinois competed at the Illinois State University Concert Band Festival. A panel of three expert collegiate adjudicators listened to each ensemble and provided formative feedback, and, a score. Finally, the ensembles were ranked by school classification and put in an overall performance ranking.Special congratulations goes to the 61 members of the DGS Wind Ensemble for earning 1st place in Class 6A and 5th place overall out of the 28 performing bands. This fine ensemble earned the 1rst and 2nd highest scores from two of the three judges during the course of the day.
"We've known all year long this is a very special performing ensemble." said Fine Arts Department Chairman Glenn Williams. "These scores and rankings confirm what we've known sonically all year long - that this ensemble ranks among the finest performing bands in the state of Illinois."
